There is no question that the Arden Shakespeare is one of the best scholarly editions you can get at an affordable price.Unfortunaltely, this has resulted in a work of extremely poor-quality publishing. The print is pixelated and rough, the text margins don't align, a few pages edges are folded inside, sometimes you get scaled-down pages with the printing indicators for where the paper has to be cut and (at least in one paragraph), a different font than in the remainder of the book is used.I was horribly disappointed by these shortcomings, but as a text I need for university, this is not too bad because I have to clutter the pages with textmarker anyway. But if I bought this for my bookshelf, I would probably consider returning it.The content is of course enormously helpful for understanding the contexts and implications of the play, and is a valuable companion for any class focussing either on the play itself or on Renaissance literature in general.If you need a good and reliable edition with many annotations and textual remarks, buy this one ;)

Wer Shakespeare gerne mag, dem wird das Buch gefallen. Die Handlung ist gut strukturiert und man behält einen guten Überblick. Das Cover finde ich persönlich auch sehr ansprechend. Ich kann das Stück nur weiterempfehlen!

Klassischer Shakespeare. Habe das Buch für die Uni gebraucht. Diese Ausgabe war für diesen Zweck perfekt, weil sie (formal gesehen) sehr übersichtlich ist.

This piece of work by Shakespeare is as great as all his former works. It marks the end of his writing and is, therefore, somehow different and one could even say cubist, compared to Shakespeare's classics.In connection with the great movie "The Tempest" with Helen Mirren as the leading actress, it is more than perfect for all being and coming fans of Shakespeare.

Das Buch ist sehr gut. Es ist übersichtlich und hat neben dem "Early Modern English"-Text den Text in "Modern English", so dass man die Textstellen sehr gut miteinander vergleichen kann. Außerdem gibt das Buch zu Anfang einen guten Überblick über Shakespeare, seine Schaffenszeit und das Theater zur damaligen Zeit. Ich kann es nur empfehlen, wenn man nicht so sicher im Early Modern English ist, das Buch aber trotzdem lesen möchte/muss.

The analysis contained in this book is very detailed and helps people (not only students at university!) to understand this complicated and very interesting romance by William Shakespeare. As concerns the book itself, I find it really good, with photos and extra-information. I would recommend it, and maybe I'll buy other Shakespeare's books of these gorgeous collection.
